日本オーストラリアンフットボール協会について
日本リーグの所属チームについて
2008年現在では、6チームの地域・大学・社会人チームでリーグ戦を行い、上位4チームがプレーオフに進出する。日本で行われる試合のルールはAFLが定めたルールに準じているが、日本にオーストラリア並みのグラウンドが存在しない為、1チームの人数は11人で行われている。（通常は1チーム18人で合計36人で試合をする）

○9月、慶應Hawks、初豪州遠征。VFLのファイナルシリーズの観戦、HawthornでのAllan Jeans氏によるトレーニングセッション、North Melbourneでのトレーニングセッション。最後にSunbury FCのU-18と練習試合(初の国際試合)を行う。 - 1987

前座試合として初の日本人オージーボールの試合
慶応大学Hawks vs 早稲田大学Bombers が組まれる
両大学のメンバーはフジテレビの支援を受けた合宿・試合を実施。
来日中のEssendonのPaul Salmonが臨時コーチを担当。
その際Essendonから本番の試合後、日本での練習や試合の発展を願いボールが寄付された。
後に早稲田大学Bombersは消滅。 - 1986

日本代表について
オーストラリアンフットボールの日本代表もあり、通称：サムライズと呼ぶ。
現在は学生を主体にインターナショナルカップの上位進出を目指している。 2008年インターナショナルカップでは、強敵サモアに勝利する等し、全16チーム中8位に食い込んだ。
